Dorothy Kopelman

BIO / STATEMENT

Dorothy W. Kopelman has been working in the field of art for decades. She received her BA and MA in Art at Brooklyn College, where studied painting with Ad Rheinhardt, drawing with Philip Pearlstein and design with Jimmy Ernst.  She had many different jobs all in the field of art.  She taught art and graphic design as an adjunct professor at SVA,  Touro and Hunter College.  Dorothy worked as an Executive Art Director at Arbor House and an Assistant Art Director at Putnam Publishing, and also had her own freelance design business.


For the last decade She has been painting at The Art Students League in New York City and at The Art Barge in Amagansett.  Her work has been exhibited  in group shows at The Art Students League, The Art Barge, the Artist Alliance of East Hampton and Guild Hall. 

 

Her honors include a Blue Dot at the Art Students League,  a Silver Medal at the Society of Illustrator 28th Annual Show, awards from ADC NY,  Graphis Annual ADC of LA.   She received the Photography Award at Brooklyn College and the Clarion from the Women Communicators of America.
