Greg Santomero earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Washington DC at The Catholic University of America in Sociology and Studio Art. During his final year in DC, Greg was awarded a design internship at The US Department of Health and Human Services. At a time when computer graphics was strengthening at an expeditious rate and an understanding of the creative scene in New York, Greg returned to develop his skill in post production facilities in Times Square while furthering his education at New York University and The School of Visual Arts.
In the mid 90’s, Greg was offered a position as a broadcast graphic designer within NBC’s news division. He quickly transitioned to entertainment and, as a collegiate football and rugby player, he saw it only fitting to lend his talents to NBC Sports. After a few years in the sports division, he became their senior designer/creative director whose work was an instrumental part of NBC’s Olympic Games, Super Bowl, The French Open, Wimbledon, etc. After eight years focusing on motion design, live action, 2D & 3D in television and print, Greg left NBC to build the boutique design/communications outfit, Santo Studios, utilizing all forms of visual communication. Greg’s work garnered him three National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Emmy Awards, a few Promax/Broadcast Design Awards and an assorted variety of design merits.
Throughout Greg’s career, he’s been known for his clean, graphic intensive visuals but lately he’s been embracing his analog roots, dabbling in collage, mixed media, traditional painting and encaustic. Living in New York City with his wife, Angela, two daughters and Samoa, their Bichon ShihTzu, it’s challenging not to be inspired to create.
